The 51st Aviation Regiment is an illustrious unit that was established on October 1, 1939. In 1999, after a long period of leadership in the national air defense, the 51st was converted into a fighter-bomber and fighter-reconnaissance regiment, based on two groups of airmen: the 103rd Fighter-Bomber Squadron and the 132nd fighter-reconnaissance group. In 2014, the 101st group of the operational unit was added to them. As of 2024, only the 132nd Group is part of the 51st Wing.
